This is a souvenir from Hawaii — a child’s dress-up purse, dating to approximately the 1950s. It’s a fantastic and unique toy. While coconut purses are relatively common, one made specifically for a child, that has lasted all these years, is quite rare!
There’s a sweet face painted on the front of this purse with huge blue eyes and lashes. It has a gold carrying cord, yellow yarn pigtails with red yarn ties, and a white plastic bead for a nose / closure. On the back is painted “ALOHA HAWAIIAN GAL”.
This is a one-of-a-kind gift for a vintage collector, whether they like toys, purses, travel souvenirs, or Hawaii specifically. It’s colourful, and will look great on a shelf, nestled into a larger collection of vintage finds.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. A bit of surface wear present, especially to the paint. The cord is a bit dingy, which means someone small authentically carried and loved this piece. Clean inside, and the nylon net liner is in good shape, no tears. Hinge and closure work well. Please use photos to help you assess condition.
